Historic Toyon Courtyard - Undergraduate Housing
Draw 2009 Results

The results of the Student Housing Undergraduate Draw have been posted outside each Housing Front Desk and will be released in Axess at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009.

More upperclass students will be provided with premier housing in the form of singles or two-room doubles this year, due to the implementation of the Housing Master Plan.  These changes have moved several large residences into competition with the Row Houses for popularity.  Branner, Mirrielees, Toyon, Lagunita, Roble, and Crothers Singles had cut offs above several Row Houses.  The Row Houses and Co-ops split between first and second tier with a few moving into the third tier, which should alleviate concerns that no sophomores would be living on the Row. Toyon filled with very low second tier numbers, resulting in the house being completely filled with sophomores.  The test program for Xanadu and Crothers where students could rank individual room types appears to have been very popular, and will be investigated as an addition to the entire Draw for next year.  Cut-off information for individual residences and other Draw statistics are available online.

An additional 86 upperclass students entered the Draw this year for a total of 4084 students who applied for housing for the 2009-10 academic year.  Even with the extra 111 spaces provided by the Housing Master Plan, there were 89 guaranteed students unassigned.  This is down from last year and it is felt that the majority of these students will be placed via the waiting list or in walk-in rounds over the summer.

Under the guaranteed housing policy, all of the guaranteed students who have not yet been assigned to specific residences will be offered housing by the end of the first week of Autumn Quarter.  Additional spaces become available over the summer as students change their enrollment and housing plans, or alternate solutions will be offered.  Unassigned students should join the Autumn Waiting List in Axess by July 5, 2009.  Students who received an assignment, but wish to be reassigned, should not cancel their current assignment, but can request to be reassigned via the Autumn Waiting List in Axess.

Residents who have received assignments do not need to accept the assignment in Axess. By signing the Residence Agreement, you have already accepted your housing assignment.  After being assigned to a residence, you will need to participate in the in-house draw to identify a roommate and select a room.  Please see In-house Draw Procedure 2009-10 for detailed guidelines, and the Schedule of Room Assignment Meetings for meeting information.

Statistics on the outcome of this year’s Draw are available online.
Summer Housing
All undergraduate students who applied for summer housing have been assigned, with the exception of 10 students with restricted choices. Results of the summer lottery are available.  Students desiring summer housing, but who have not yet applied or have not yet been assigned are encouraged to join the Summer Waiting list.  The deadline for Summer applications is May 31, 2009, and there are still spaces available!
