| English for Foreign Students Program – Summer Quarter |
University housing is available to students enrolled in the English for Foreign Students (EFS) 688 Program. For more information about the academic program, please contact English for Foreign Students.
Housing Contract Dates
All EFS participants should apply for the EFS housing contract on the summer housing application.
- The dates of the EFS housing contract are from July 2 – August 16, 2009.
- Students who will matriculate at Stanford in Autumn 2009-10 and receive on-campus housing for Autumn Quarter will have continuous on-campus housing from Summer Quarter through the start of their Autumn Quarter contract.
- The summer contract end date will be adjusted to the start of the autumn contract.
- Students who have contracts for both summer and autumn will have their summer contracts end on September 1, 2009, the first day of autumn contracts. This adjustment will only affect the end date of the summer contract. The start date of the contract will not be changed.
8-Week Contract instead of EFS Contract
Students who will reside on campus Autumn Quarter may choose an 8-week housing contract instead of the EFS contract if they would prefer to move in to housing earlier on June 20 instead of July 2. The end date of the 8-week contract will be adjusted to the start of the autumn contract in the same manner as the end date of the EFS contract.
Residence Options
EFS participants may select the following housing for Summer Quarter:
- Single Graduate Housing – for single graduate students or students coming to Stanford without their spouse, domestic partner and/or child.
- Couples without Children Housing – for students who are married and those who have same-sex or opposite-sex domestic partners who will be occupying the apartment with them at least 50% of each week.
- Students with Children Housing – for students with legally dependent children who will live with them at least 50% of each week; and expecting parents may also apply for the summer term as long as they will at least be in the second trimester of the pregnancy during the summer term and are applying for Autumn Housing as well.
Find more information about the residence options for Single Graduate, Couples without Children and Students with Children Housing on the Application Process web page.
Room Rates
- On-campus room rates include all utilities (water, electricity, garbage and sewer) except telecommunication, telephone and cable.
- Each room/apartment will have a land-line telephone with basic telephone service and residents are able to sign up for in-room network connections without additional connection fees.
- A $52 telecommunication fee will automatically be assessed on all students' University bill for this service.
Note: All room rates are approximate and subject to change.

Room-Rate Adjustments
- If you are assigned to a different residence for summer and autumn, you may incur a room-rate adjustment for Summer Quarter depending on your move date from your summer assignment to your autumn assignment.
- This adjustment to your summer University bill will be made at the time you schedule your move to your new residence.
- For more information about scheduling your move, please visit the Once You’re Assigned page and view Contract Changes.
- You will have an additional charge for Summer Quarter if you move to a more expensive residence, or receive a credit if you move to a less expensive residence.
- Please logon to Axess to view any adjustments to your bill.
- You must pay any increase at the Student Financial Services office within 30 days of the billing change.
Important Notes
Do NOT apply for housing before reviewing all the pertinent information in the Graduate Apply for Summer Housing section for students who will continue in Stanford Housing for Autumn Quarter.
Payments
Please make your payment for tuition and fees by the deadline noted on your bill, and no later than your move-in date. You may view your balance online on Axess at any time. Contact Student Financial Services with any questions regarding your bill or payment.

| Summer Research College (SRC) |
| Rather than a residential program, the 2009 Summer Research College will be a series of workshops and faculty dinners open to any undergraduate conducting a project on campus over the summer.
Apply for Housing
Students participating in summer research should read all the information in the Undergraduate Apply for Summer Housing section and may, as always, apply through Axess by the application deadline. Students may select any residence as their first housing choice.
SRC Participation
In order to participate in Summer Research College activities, students conducting full-time, faculty-mentored research must also visit the SRC website and join the summer mailing list; this list will be used to announce events. Note that most events will have limited space, and that RSVPs will usually be required. For more information about Summer Research College, visit the SRC website.
