Newly built Munger Graduate Residence
Munger Graduate Residence: New Premiere Housing

We are pleased to announce the opening of the Munger Graduate Residence, available to graduate students in all disciplines, with priority given to Law School students. All units—consisting of studios, one, two, and four bedroom apartments—include a private bath for each student. Four bedroom apartments also include a guest bathroom. All units are furnished with beautiful custom-designed furniture.

This premiere, architecturally distinctive property features exceptional campus views, beautifully appointed, fully-furnished air-conditioned apartments with open floor plans, spacious living rooms, private bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, contemporary full kitchens, and other high-quality services and amenities.

These apartments offer generous square footage (utilities included), as well as green, sustainable features.  Both nine- and twelve-month lease options are available. Two of the five buildings are currently open, with the remaining buildings scheduled to be available Fall 2009.

Please visit our virtual tour of the Munger Graduate Residence.

New Two-Bedroom Efficiency Apartments

The apartments in Blackwelder and part of Quillen are being renovated into two-bedroom efficiency apartments to create a more private living situation for single students. The apartments will have two separate, locking bedrooms, with a shared kitchen/eating area, pantry and bathroom.

Current occupants will have priority to renew into this new type of apartment and will also receive assignment priority to the traditional one-bedroom, double occupancy apartments in other buildings, if preferred.

New Residence Choices for Couples Without Children

The Munger Graduate Residences offer a new housing option for couples without children in the form of one-bedroom apartments. Two student couples may also apply for a limited number of two-bedroom apartments in Escondido Village. Both students need to be enrolled for the duration of the contract.

New Application System

The online housing application in Axess will have a new look and feel this year. You will now be able to list more choices and can save the application steps as you progress through the process. Please remember to return to complete your application.

Groups Can Use Retention Features With Coed Members

In the past male and female group members were assigned independently by the Lottery system. This year the group retention feature will work for coed groups, allowing men and women to stay together in a lower preference in order to be assigned to the same type of housing. Coed groups are still not automatically assigned to a mixed gender apartment. Gender neutral assignments within the same apartment are available in Rains or Munger on a space-available basis and must be specifically requested by all group members.

Gender-neutral Program Expanded

The gender-neutral housing program has been expanded to include Lyman, Munger and Rains apartments, and will be made by request through your Housing Front Desk on a space-available basis. Students must apply as a group, select their own roommates from students assigned to the residence and completely fill an apartment in order to participate in the program. If you are living in gender-neutral housing and one of your roommates leaves in the middle of the year, you may be required to move in order to return the space to single-gender. No students will be assigned to a mixed gender apartment without requesting it.
