Housing for Non-Student Stanford Summer Visitors
Housing is available for non-student Stanford summer visitors from June 20 - August 21, 2009. This housing is intended for academically sponsored visitors including visiting scholars, post-docs, researchers, interns, conference guests, parents of summer youth campers, workshop participants, prospective Stanford students, etc.
Most of the apartment complexes are on campus and are part of Stanford's graduate student housing. However, the Oak Creek complex is located just off campus at the western border of the Stanford campus (off of Sand Hill Road near the Stanford Medical Center and the Stanford Shopping Center).
The chart below lists some basic information about your housing options, and links to information sheets regarding each option. Please read the information sheets carefully.

Application Procedures:
Because we collect an application fee and $100 holding deposit at the time you apply, you will need to provide proof of your Stanford affiliation and confirm (with a Non-Student Summer Housing Associate) the availability of the housing you desire BEFORE submitting an application.
Proof of Eligibility/Stanford Affiliation:
All individuals staying on campus must have an academic affiliation with Stanford. Proof of affiliation must be provided before submitting a housing application. The following will satisfy this requirement:
- Visiting Scholars, post-docs, researchers, interns and others should send a copy of their offer letter or an e-mail from their professor or department verifying their affiliation. Alternately, you can have the professor complete a Verification of Stanford Affiliation Form on your behalf and submit it to the Summer Housing Associate at the Community Housing office.
- Conference participants attending a program not listed on the web page should provide a copy of their registration confirmation.
- Parents of youth participants attending a Stanford summer camp program should provide a copy of their registration confirmation.
- Visitors conducting business with Stanford are also eligible, including individuals who are interviewing, new staff/faculty needing a temporary location to stay, parents of students, etc.
If you fall into another category, please call 650-725-1429 (Monday – Friday, 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.) or send an e-mail to summerhousing@stanford.edu to further discuss eligibility requirements.
Housing Options:
Use the housing options chart and the information sheets on the various housing options to rank your choices of locations for which you are eligible. Please be aware of minimum stay requirements and occupancy/age limits for families.
Steps for Applying:
1. Send an email to summerhousing@stanford.edu or a fax to 650-736-1297 containing the following items:
- Proof of Stanford affiliation
- Your contact information (name, address, phone numbers, email address)
- The date that you wish to check in (on or after 6/20/09)
- The date that you wish to check out (on or before 8/21/09)
- A ranked list of your housing choices
- Whether you are requesting single, couple, or family accommodations
- If travelling with your family, the number of people and the ages of the children
- If applying for shared housing, indicate your gender and whether your age is 18 – 22 or 23 - 99
- If applying as a single person but wishing to room with a friend who is applying separately, the name and contact information for the other person.
- Any other information that you wish us to consider in placing you.
2. A Non-Student Summer Housing Associate will respond with an e-mail requesting clarification or confirming tentative placement and providing the URL for the housing application.
3.
Within two business days of receiving the URL for the housing application, use the application link that is provided to pay the $25 application fee, pay the $100 holding deposit, pay for any parking permits purchased or linen rented, and to reserve the housing that was tentatively confirmed for you by e-mail. Payments can be made by MasterCard or Visa.
4. After the application has been processed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail which will provide details on the remaining balance due at check-in and the times and locations for check-in. Please read this confirmation e-mail carefully and retain it for your reference.
If you have questions, please call 650-725-1429 (Monday – Friday between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M.) or send e-mail to summerhousing@stanford.edu.
