Eligibility

Limited short term housing is available prior to the beginning of the autumn quarter/semester for graduate and undergraduate students who:

1. Do not have an autumn housing assignment and are looking for off-campus housing or

2. Are participating in walk-ins or

3. Need to be on campus for an academic reason.

If early arrival is needed for an academic reason, the faculty member with whom you will be working will need to submit a letter of confirmation.

Eligibility for housing will be determined in conjunction with the Housing Assignment Services office.

Housing

Housing will be available in Wilbur Hall starting August 13, 2005. If you need housing before this date, please contact the Housing Administrator at summerhousing@stanford.edu or 650-725-1429. Depending on the time period and length of stay, a higher housing rate may apply and you may have to live temporarily in another residence.

Cancellations. If you are able to move into your graduate housing assignment and do not need short term housing, please send a message so your reservation can be cancelled. Once you are on campus, you just need to notify your Housing Service Center if you can move earlier into your housing. The staff will submit a refund request as needed.

Check-in: Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. Your housing reservation will be released 24 hours after your scheduled arrival time if you fail to check in.

Check-out: All guests must vacate their rooms by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2005. Prior to this date, check-out time is by 12:00 noon.

Charges

2005 Rates:

$28.00/per person per night (double occupancy)
$35.00/per night (single occupancy) *

*Single occupancy rooms are limited. You will be assigned a roommate if a single room is not available.

Payment Procedures: Full payment will be due upon check-in. Form of payment can be cash, traveler's check, personal or cashier's check (written in U.S. dollars and payable through a U.S. bank), or Mastercard or Visa credit card. Checks should be payable to Stanford University.

Key Deposit: A $80 key deposit is required for each set of keys distributed upon checking in and will be refunded when the set of keys is returned at check-out. If keys are not returned at check-out, the lock will be changed and the deposit will be forfeited. Deposits will not be refunded for keys returned at a later date.

Parking Permits. Permits are required on campus and can be purchased at the Housing Service Center where you check in. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. Conference Services is not responsible for any tickets a guest receives. 

Housing Policies

Smoking. Smoking is not permitted in (or within 20 feet of) any residences and buildings on campus. 

Pets. No pets are allowed in residences.

Visitors Under Age 18: Visitors under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

General Information

Housekeeping. Common areas and bathrooms are cleaned daily, Monday - Friday, but guests are responsible for maintaining their own rooms. No linen will be provided. Guests must bring their own towels, pillows, sheets, and blankets. The twin beds are 80 inches long and require extra long sheets.

Meals. No kitchen facilities are available. Information on campus food services will be available at the Housing Service Center.

Laundry Facilities. Washers and dryers are located in the residence. 

Mail & Messages. The Housing Service Center address and telephone number will be included in your confirmation letter. The office staff receives mail and takes telephone messages. 

Telephones. Personal telephone services may be arranged upon arrival with Communication Services, located at Forsythe Hall in Room 195. The office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Guests must bring their own telephone as no equipment rental is available on campus. 

Appliances. The residence rooms and lounges are not furnished with TVs, stereos or radios. Microwaves, dishes or utensils are not provided.

Application Procedures

To apply for short-term housing, please complete our online application form.

Upon our receipt of your application, you will be mailed a confirmation which will include your check-in location. At check-in, you will receive your specific room assignment.
