To submit a listing to the Community Housing office, you will need to complete a rental listing form or send the required information by e-mail (communityhousing@stanford.edu), fax (650-736-1297), or letter (630 Serra Street #110, Stanford, CA 94305). You do NOT need to fill out a form, as long as you send the office use information and the text of the rental listing.

Information required for office use only:
1. Your first and last names, or the name of the management company
2. Your contact information, including phone numbers and e-mail addresses
3. The address of the property
4. Whether or not you have advertised the rental with the Community Housing office within the last two years

The text of the ad should be in paragraph format:

1. The first line will act as a title line and should include the rent, the category of housing, the city or town, and possibly the name of the neighborhood and/or a descriptive word or two. For example, "$1600 - 2 Bedroom Furnished Apartment in Downtown Mountain View"
2. Only the first line should have each word capitalized.
3. The last line should include your contact information, for the prospective tenants to contact you.
4. Remember to include the following information, in addition to any selling points and information that they need to know in deciding whether or not to contact you.
5. Please do not abbreviate words, as we have Stanford affiliates coming from other countries.

Remember to include...
Where the rental is located (city/town is required, but address, cross streets, and/or neighborhood are optional)
The amount of the rent
The number of bedrooms and bathrooms
When it is available for move-in and/or for viewing
Whether of not it is furnished (can include list of items provided, etc)

For whole units and shared rentals, include information on the kitchen facilities such as dishwasher, disposal, microwave, pantry, etc.
Amenities within the residence or room
Amenities within the complex
Nearby conveniences
Distance from campus and information on any nearby public transportation to campus
Any special requirements for renting from you (must be applied to all applicants equally and must pertain to their ability to be good risks as renters). For example, income requirements or landlord references.

Photographs and other Attachments:
You may submit a photograph, floor plan, or other image for display on the web display of your listing by e-mailing them as attachments to the Community Housing e-mail account, which is communityhousing@stanford.edu. We will attach the photographs as links within the text of the rental listing.

If you have listed the rental with Community Housing since the summer of 2007, you may call Community Housing at (650) 723-3906 and we will modify the pre-existing listing by phone.

Once submitted, your listing will be reviewed (and perhaps edited) by a staff member. Usually, it will be posted the same day, but during especially busy times it may not be posted until the next business day. The information will be available to Stanford affiliates 24 hours through this web site. Your ad will run for a minimum of 30 days, unless you notify us that it is rented. If your vacancy is filled before it expires, we ask that you inform the Community Housing office so that a staff member may remove the listing from the web page.

If you have not yet read the other pages in the Information for Landlords section, please read our Listing Policies.
