Housing Listings
The Housing Listings file contains all current housing
opportunities listed with the Community Housing office. It
includes rental listings of available rooms, places to share,
apartments, cottages, duplexes, houses, condominums, townhouses,
house-/pet-sitting positions, and work exchanges in the
communities surrounding Stanford.
We welcome anyone in the community to submit a rental housing
listing; however, access to the listing database for housing
searches are restricted to current and incoming Stanford
students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars and researchers.
Search
for Housing Listings: There are two ways to access the rental listings. Current Stanford affiliates will need
to use a SUNet ID to access the rental listings through the Rental Listings page. Incoming Stanford affiliates who do not yet have a SUNet IDs, will need to request a temporary user name and password in order to access the rental listings. In order to get a user name and password, incoming Stanford affiliates will have to provide proof of Stanford affiliation, after which they will be able to link to the Rental Listing pages using the temporary user name and password .
Submit a New Housing Listing: To submit a rental listing, please send the text of your rental listing by e-mail to communityhousing@lists.stanford.edu. In the body of the e-mail above the text of your ad, please include your name and contact information, the property address, and the category of housing. In the text of the ad you do not have to give your name, but at the bottom of the ad you must include contact information.
The rental listing must include the rent amount, the city in which the rental is located, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms (if a whole unit), whether or not it is furnished, and the availability date. Possible other items to include in your rental listing are the the name if the neighborhood (if there is one), the minimum length of stay, the lease terms, the deposit amount, pet and smoking policies, amenities within the residence, amenities within the complex, nearby conveniences, length of time to get to the Stanford campus, and any special requirements for renting from you.
After you send the listing to the Community Housing office, it will be added to the list of rentals in the appropriate category or categories. The categories are apartments, condominiums, cottages, houses, rooms in private homes, shared housing, work exchanges, and short-term/sublets/summer sublets. You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your listing has been posted. The listing will stay posted for at least a month or for a shorter period of time if you contact Community Housing to take it down. It may take us a few days to post your listing.
