Once you have submitted your housing application you can make changes to your selections on Axess until the appropriate application deadline. Updating your application preferences does not change your position on the list.
To make changes to your application, log onto Axess before the deadlines listed below, click on the "R&DE Portal" button, select “Edit” under "Housing Applications," and update the appropriate application.
You can withdraw your application on Axess without fee by the application deadline for each round. Withdrawing or cancelling after the deadline will result in a $100 - $550 fee, depending on the date you cancel.
Once you withdraw an application, you may reapply for housing, but doing so after the application deadline will cause you to receive a new Lottery number and position on the list of students waiting.
To withdraw your application, log onto Axess before the deadlines listed below, select "Withdraw" under the "Housing Applications" section, and then follow the prompts to withdraw the appropriate application.

If, after you have submitted your application, your student status changes (e.g., from single student to couple) you must apply for housing appropriate to your new status. If the change in your student status corresponds with Winter or Spring Quarter, you may apply for that future term on Axess and keep your current application or assignment.
If your status changes before you are assigned: Withdraw your original application and reapply by the deadline for housing that is appropriate to your new status.
If your status changes after you are assigned, but before your contract begins: Cancel your original assignment (you will be assessed applicable assignment refusal fees) and join the Waiting List by the appropriate deadline for housing suitable to your new status.
If you or your spouse/partner becomes pregnant after you are assigned to housing for single students or couples without children: Before cancelling your Lottery assignment, you may apply for housing for students with children for Autumn Quarter if the academic term coincides with your second or third trimester of pregnancy. Contact Housing Assignments in writing to request a student with children application for autumn. If your second or third trimester corresponds with Winter or Spring Quarter, you may apply for that future term on Axess.
If you are assigned to housing for students with children, your original Lottery assignment will be cancelled and corresponding administrative fees assessed. All transfers are made on the basis of availability, Waiting List application number, and pregnancy due date. Students already living on campus have priority over off-campus applicants without a housing guarantee, but reassignments aren’t guaranteed.
File an application for reassignment for the current or next assignment round. If you are certain of your plans, (i.e., engaged to be married or pregnant) you may submit an application for a different category of housing for a future quarter. If we are able to reassign you within a reasonable period of time, you must accept the reassignment. When you are reassigned, your original room or apartment is simultaneously assigned to another student. If you are reassigned mid-year, you must be able to move into your new quarters when the apartment becomes available.
If you live in a furnished apartment and apply for an unfurnished apartment for the following year, be aware that you will have to move out of your current apartment if you are assigned to a different apartment type. Furniture isn’t removed from or added to your current apartment to match your new assignment.
