This summer Stanford will submit its Capacity and Preparatory Review (CPR) report to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  The CPR report documents the university’s fulfillment of the WASC Core Commitment to Institutional Capacity and describes the results of two research studies focused on Stanford’s writing and foreign language requirements.  The report also describes Stanford’s two themes of accreditation, Educating Students for Global Challenges, and the Small College Experience at a Research University, and the research being performed to support these themes. As has been previously reported in this newsletter, Stanford is undertaking several assessment and evaluation projects in connection with our re-accreditation. These projects involve many studies, but in particular, the Class of 2012 is serving as the basis for data collection around the themes of our reaccreditation — “Away from Campus”, “Variations in Educational Environments”, and “Fundamental Skills”. This class (the current freshmen) have already taken a prefreshman survey, and the WASC accreditation project will continue to survey this class extensively over the next four years. (more…)

The Stanford University accreditation proposal has been submitted to WASC for review. Stanford will receive feedback in late June from the WASC committee assigned to review the proposal.
