SRI International’s Engineering & Systems Division (www.sri.com/esd), the institute’s largest group, is a multidisciplinary engineering organization dedicated to development and application of operationally effective systems. The Research Physicist will work within a team of other researchers to investigate remote sensing data phenomenology, develop physics-based models of the geophysical environment, account for sensor and processing effects, and develop and evaluate state-of-the-art computer algorithms.  The Research Physicist must have experience in scientific research and data analysis and expert knowledge of computational mathematics and statistical techniques. The Physicist also must have excellent capabilities in scientific computer programming.

Requirements
 Ph.D in Physics, Mathematics, EE or related engineering fields. Postdoctoral experience a plus. 

EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate with skills in any of the following are a plus: remote sensing, electromagnetics, hydrodynamic and geophysical phenomena, digital signal/image processing, computer algorithms, or optical/radar imaging sensors. Should have demonstrated ability to present scientific papers.  Frequent technical presentations are required.

The Senior Research Physicist will work within a team of other researchers to investigate remote sensing data phenomenology, develop physics-based models of the geophysical environment, account for sensor and processing effects, and develop and evaluate state-of-the-art computer algorithms. The Senior Research Physicist must have extensive experience in scientific research and data analysis including the processing and analysis of real data, computer modeling, and the development of numerical simulations.  The Senior Research Physicist will be responsible for writing proposals and technical reports and making frequent presentations to clients and research community and may also be responsible for task leadership.

Requirements:
Ph.D in Physics, Mathematics, EE or related engineering fields. Postdoctoral experience a plus.
