SRI International’s Engineering & Systems Division (www.sri.com/esd), the institute’s
largest group, is a multidisciplinary engineering organization
dedicated to development and application of operationally effective
systems. We perform a variety of engineering research, systems
engineering, testing, and integration services for commercial and
government clients worldwide. Clients include the Department of Defense
(U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Joint Services), the
Department of Transportation, local government agencies, and domestic
and international commercial companies
The Research Physicist will work within a team of other researchers to
investigate remote sensing data phenomenology, develop physics-based
models of the geophysical environment, account for sensor and
processing effects, and develop and evaluate state-of-the-art computer
algorithms. The Research Physicist must have experience in
scientific research and data analysis and expert knowledge of
computational mathematics and statistical techniques. The Physicist
also must have excellent capabilities in scientific computer
programming.
Requirements
Ph.D in Physics, Mathematics, EE or related engineering fields.
Postdoctoral experience a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate with skills in any of the following are a
plus: remote sensing, electromagnetics, hydrodynamic and geophysical
phenomena, digital signal/image processing, computer algorithms, or
optical/radar imaging sensors. Should have demonstrated ability to
present scientific papers. Frequent technical presentations are
required.
The Senior Research Physicist will work within a team of other
researchers to investigate remote sensing data phenomenology, develop
physics-based models of the geophysical environment, account for sensor
and processing effects, and develop and evaluate state-of-the-art
computer algorithms. The Senior Research Physicist must have extensive
experience in scientific research and data analysis including the
processing and analysis of real data, computer modeling, and the
development of numerical simulations. The Senior Research
Physicist will be responsible for writing proposals and technical
reports and making frequent presentations to clients and research
community and may also be responsible for task leadership.
