 Rock Climbing Recreation Classes

Spring 2008 Classes

Beginning Climbing
Beginning Climbing is an hour long class for people with little or no climbing experience. The class covers safety aspects of indoor climbing and basic climbing technique.

Intermediate Climbing
Intermediate Climbing is an hour long technique class for people who have solid belay skills and want to learn more climbing techniques. This is a great class for individuals getting back into climbing and those continuing their climbing education.

Strength & Conditioning
A 1.5 hour long strength and endurance training class for people who love to climb and already have solid basic climbing skills. Strength and endurance training is no substitute for technique but can definitely help you climb longer and harder routes, plus it's a great and fun workout. Recommendation is to have completed Intermediate.  This class is also offered as a 1 credit PE course.

Advanced Climbing Technique
This 1.5 hr class is for experienced climbers who want to learn how to climb better. Advanced techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. Climbers must have passed Intermediate or equivalent. Must be belay certified prior to the first class.

Learn to Lead
This is a 1.5hr class for experienced climbers who have top-rope climbed and belayed for over a year and now want to learn how to lead climb. Must be belay certified prior to the first class.

Aerial Fabrics
Aerial fabric is a circus art involving graceful tricks performed on two lengths of fabric.  Often seen in shows like Cirque du Soleil, this art mixes elegance with strength, and is excellent cross-training for rock climbers, as it involves the same core muscles.  This class will teach a variety of tricks, all of which will be done with utmost safety and are geared toward beginners.
