Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation (ACSR) Front Desk Supervisor:
The Front Desk Supervisor is primarily responsible for monitoring door access to the building, greeting participants, answering phones, and checking out equipment. An ideal candidate is friendly, motivated, outgoing and reliable. Good communication and customer service skills are a must.

ACSR and Tresidder Fitness Center Supervisor:
This position requires friendly, knowledgeable and highly motivated individuals whose primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patrons, facility and equipment in the fitness center.  Additional duties include some cleaning and facility maintenance, basic fitness instruction and customer service. 

Personal Trainer:
Enthusiastic fitness professionals or avid apprentices who provide clients with a basic understanding of their current fitness status and design personalized fitness regimens that help them achieve their fitness goals.

Intramural Sports Official:
The Intramural Sports Official shall, to the best of his/her ability, officiate and /or keep accurate records and score of those contests sponsored by the Intramural program. The official is charged with the responsibility of maintaining orderly conduct, an environment that promotes safety and fairness, on the court or field to which he/she is assigned, and will perform other duties as assigned.

Lifeguard:
Candidates must be possess current lifeguard certification or be willing to be certified, have flexible availability and be willing to work weekends.

The Climbing Wall Instruction Manager:
Primarily organizes climbing courses at the Stanford Climbing wall and provides oversight for climbing instructors.  This position works with the Coordinator for Outdoor Education to hire instructors, maintain instruction quality, coordinate curriculum, and assist with the training and mentoring of instructors.  Additionally, the Instruction Manager develops the course schedule, advertises classes, processes registrations, maintains class syllabi, aggregates class feedback to improve class quality, and acts as the point of contact for questions concerning classes at SCW.  The Instruction Manger works with the Route-setting manager to ensure that appropriate routes are available to be used in classes.  The Instruction Manager must attend weekly manager meetings, and bi-monthly full-SCW-staff meetings.  This position is compensated both for time spent in meetings and for self-reported time spent accomplishing mentioned duties and other duties as assigned. This position is approximately 20-30 hours per quarter.

  • Desired Qualifications: The Instruction Manager should be highly organized, customer friendly, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate proficient rock climbing skills.  Innovation and a passion for rock climbing are highly encouraged. Previous experience working at SCW is highly preferred, but not required.

The Climbing Wall Special Events Manager:
Primarily in charge of scheduling special groups at the Stanford Climbing Wall, (including birthday parties, Stanford Alpine Club events, and student/faculty events). This position oversees the planning and execution of the annual Climbers Rage Against Gravity Stanford Bouldering Competition, and potentially will create other innovative events to improve services at the climbing wall (i.e. Open Belay Night, Halloween Climbing, etc.).  This position works with both the Staff Manger to ensure staffing for special events and with the Coordinator of Outdoor Education to plan and develop leadership training programming at the climbing wall. This position coordinates all special events at the wall including advertising, staffing, and maintaining a budget for the special events. The Special Events Manager must attend weekly manager meetings, and bi-monthly full-SCW-staff meetings. This position is compensated both for time spent in meetings and for self-reported time spent accomplishing mentioned duties and other duties as assigned. This position is approximately 20-30 hours per quarter.

  • Desired Qualifications: The Special Events Manager must be skilled at communicating with representatives from other groups and with independent individuals.  He or she should possess good organizational skills, and be adept with promotions and advertising.  Creativity is encouraged as useful for envisioning new events to foster progress at the climbing wall.  Innovation and a passion for rock climbing are highly encouraged. Previous experience working at SCW is highly preferred, but not required.

Climbing Wall Supervisor:
Climbing Wall Supervisors oversee the climbing wall during regular open climb hours to ensure visitor safety.  Climbing supervisors provide introductory belay training and certification, supervise the climbing wall attendants for proper use, optionally provide climbing instruction and help to new climbers, and attend required trainings.  Other duties include assisting with the maintenance and cleaning of the climbing wall and all wall equipment, and attending the bi-monthly climbing staff meeting.  Optional training can be completed for route-setting certification or climbing course instruction.  Climbing Wall Supervisors are compensated for their time scheduled supervising the wall and staff meeting time. Camp Counselor:
Counselors needed for day camps during fall alumni weekend and extended summer day camps. Candidates must enjoy working with children, be energetic, self-motivated and dependable. Multiple positions available. Full descriptions by clicking here.

Group Fitness Instructor:
Enthusiastic fitness professionals or avid apprentices who can provide safe and effective group exercise instruction to multi-level classes of students, faculty and staff.

Intramural Sports Supervisor:
This position will assist with the supervision, administration, operation, and delivery of the Intramural Sports Program. Successful candidates must have effective verbal and written communication skills, a strong knowledge of Intramural Sports with an emphasis on officiating and customer service and a flexible work schedule to meet program needs. 

Intramural Sports Scorekeeper:
The Intramural Sports Scorekeeper shall keep score and time accurately, in accordance with the rules of the sport, throughout the intramural contest to which they are assigned. They will assist the Intramural Official with administering a fair contest at all times.
