Waymouth/Hellman

For his part, Waymouth is well positioned for both the praise and the profit. Stanford has granted an exclusive license for his plastic to Amoco Corp., which expects annual U.S. sales alone to reach $150 million within five years. But he remains realistic. After all, this is his third patent at Stanford. Nor has he forgotten the fate of the first two: “They haven’t made any money.” ­ David Schrieberg
