Alzheimer's Disease
STANFORD ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE PROGRAM
Alzheimer's Disease, or senile dementia, affects 5-10% of Americans over
65 years old. Dr. Gerald Silverberg conducts research to understand the
effects of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage on toxic substances in patient's
suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. He is currently directing a multi-center
clinical trial of CSF drainage as a treatment for Alzheimer's Disease.
The research is being funded by CSFluids.
The Neurosurgery team collaborates with the Stanford Brain Research Center,
Functional Neurosurgery, and Stanford
Aging Clinical Research Center (ACRC).
