STANFORD ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE PROGRAM
Alzheimer's Disease, or senile dementia, affects 5-10% of Americans over 65 years old. Dr. Gerald Silverberg conducts research to understand the effects of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage on toxic substances in patient's suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. He is currently directing a multi-center clinical trial of CSF drainage as a treatment for Alzheimer's Disease. The research is being funded by CSFluids.

The Neurosurgery team collaborates with the Stanford Brain Research Center, Functional Neurosurgery, and Stanford Aging Clinical Research Center (ACRC).
