Frequently asked questions for experimenters
Who can run experiments with the subject pool?Graduate students, faculty, and visiting students and faculty can all use the subject pool.
Who do I contact once I have my experiment ready and IRB approval? If you do not already have a subject pool account, contact the student subject pool coordinator: ling-spcoordinator@lists.stanford.edu. You will need to provide a copy of your IRB approval, a copy of your IRB training certificate, and a copy of your debriefing form.
Can I pay students from the subject pool? No, you cannot provide student participants with any sort of gift or payment beyond the course credit they are earning for participation. In the future, we may set up a pool for paid participants.
How much can I use the pool? How many student participants will I be able to get? This depends on the number of students participating that quarter. In general, priority for use of the pool will be given to non-web-based experiments that would typically be expensive to run. Also, The earlier in the quarter that you contact the coordinator, the better chance you will have of using the pool.
What happens if a student doesn't show up?You will need to log on to the system to assign a negative credit.
