Stanford’s staff orientation program is for newly hired, benefits-eligible, staff members. (Rehires within two years are welcome, but not required to attend.) Topics: a broad overview of Stanford’s mission, culture, key policies, and the variety of resources, services, and training opportunities available throughout the onboarding period. A full review of benefits plan options for retirement and health & welfare (medical, dental, life, vision, etc.) is the focus of the session. Light refreshments provided. (No Show Policy does not apply.) Location is Redwood Hall, Room G-19, in Jordan Quad.

NOTE: The New Staff Orientation session begins at 8:30am; however, new staff who need their ID card can check in at 8:00am and go to neighboring Forsythe Hall to get their ID card, if their job record is in the system. Visitor parking is in the multi-level parking structure (Parking Structure 2) on the corner of Via Ortega Way and Panama Street, or in Lot 17 at the corner of Welch Road and Campus Drive West. Join other new staff members for a 45-minute stroll to see some of the main campus and hear about the university's history and architecture of the main quad. Tour leaves from and returns to Redwood Hall. Led by a Stanford student, rain or shine. Recommended for those with no previous experience being on Stanford's main campus; it's a great way to build familiarity.
New staff are encouraged to attend the complete Campus Walking Tour; it's a one-hour general visitor walking tour that leaves from the Visitor Information Center at 11 am or 3:15 most days; you can bring family or friends on the weekends. See the Visitor Information Center Tours page for details.

Join other new staff members for a 90-minute walk to see and hear about targeted areas on the main campus to increase your awareness of campus facilities, services, and beautiful areas on campus you might like to use. Tour leaves from and returns to Redwood Hall. Free lunch to eat along the way or save for after the walk. Led by Tia Rich, Ph.D., Senior Health Promotion Specialist in Stanford's Disease Prevention Research Center, and who knows the campus extremely well based on over 20 years of affiliation.

All new, non-supervisory staff are expected to attend a briefing on the university’s sexual harassment policy and our resources for addressing concerns. Newly hired supervisors and faculty are expected to participate in separate mandatory sexual harassment training. This 90 minute Sexual Harassment Briefing for non-supervisory staff does NOT meet state mandated requirements for supervisor/faculty training. This training is mandated by California State Law AB 1825. Training is required for faculty or staff supervisors who direct or evaluate work of one or more employees or students, employees, TAs, RAs, casuals, or temps.
