for supervisors

One of the most crucial roles in any organization is that of the Supervisor. A fundamental understanding of the essential elements of this important function is critical to supervisors, the staff who report to them, and to the University as an organization. Stanford has several programs designed specifically for supervisors:

Orientation to Supervision - Stanford 130

  • This class is a “quick-start” for supervisors who are new to Stanford and for longer-term employees who are new to the supervisory role.

Supervisory Essentials I

  • SE I is a series of classes that focus on the processes required to manage individual employee performance effectively. These classes lead to a certificate and may be taken individually and in any order.

Supervisory Essentials II

  • SE II series courses emphasize skills required for directing a group and developing a team.

Supervisory Skills

  • A variety of supervisory topics not linked to a specific course series.
