  • Turn on the laptop and wait for it to boot into CourseWork.
  • Login to CourseWork with your SUNetID and password.
  • Go to site SpXX-LANGWPA-YY-ZZ (it may be under My Active Sites under Unknown Academic Term)
  • Go to Assignments.
  • Click on the assignment, read the instructions, enter the special test Username and Password.
  • There are two parts. Read the instructions for each part before typing your response in the space provided. Write as much as you can, and as well as you can. Show what you can do.
  • CourseWork will automatically save your work every 15 minutes, but clicking the Save button after every sentence (or more frequently) is strongly recommended.  Do not click Submit for Grading until you are sure you are completely finished.  If you do click Submit for Grading, you will be able to start over, but you will not have access to the text you submitted.
  • You have 45 minutes total so budget your time wisely. Recommended times:
    • Part 1 = 15 minutes
    • Part 2 = 30 minutes
  • Be sure to Submit before the deadline.
  • If you accidentally delete something, DO NOT click Save or Submit. Use Ctrl-z to undo your last action. If this does not work, close Internet Explorer without saving or logging out, and then launch it and log in again.
  • DO NOT click the Back button on Internet Explorer. ALWAYS use the Next or Previous buttons in the assignment.
  • This browser ONLY goes to CourseWork.
  • You must finish by the specified time.  You should submit your work before the specified time.  You will not be able to access this test after the specified time.

After you submit your test, log off CourseWork and shut the computer down.

The Stanford University Honor Code

  1. The Honor Code is an undertaking of the students, individually and collectively:
    1. that they will not give or receive aid in examinations; that they will not give or receive unpermitted aid in class work, in the preparation of reports, or in any other work that is to be used by the instructor as the basis of grading;
    2. that they will do their share and take an active part in seeing to it that others as well as themselves uphold the spirit and letter of the Honor Code.
  2. The faculty on its part manifests its confidence in the honor of its students by refraining from proctoring examinations and from taking unusual and unreasonable precautions to prevent the forms of dishonesty mentioned above. The faculty will also avoid, as far as practicable, academic procedures that create temptations to violate the Honor Code.
  3. While the faculty alone has the right and obligation to set academic requirements, the students and faculty will work together to establish optimal conditions for honorable academic work.
