What should I do if the students want to audit the class? No auditors are allowed in special language classes. If they insist you should send them to Dr Prionas.

I need textbooks for my teaching class, who I should talk to? First you need to find out from the previous FLTA if they left anything for you. In case they have not, ask Amy to help you get the books that you want. Or with Amy's guidance, you can contact the Stanford Bookstore to get you the books for you and your students.

What can I do with the visiting scholar card? This card gives you the privilege of using the University's facilities. However, in most cases you need to get yourself a new ID card to access places like libraries or the gym. There is a way to get an electronic card and use it for all facilities in campus. You can get this advice from Pat in Language Center to deal with this issue.

How do I rent bikes? Bikes are the main mode of transportation here at Stanford. To facilitate your mobility you should think about renting or buying a bike. You can get a cheap deal by renting from Stanford bike shop or we were also informed that it is possible to get cheap bikes ($25) from the Palo Alto Police Station. Those bikes are collected by the police because some people just left their bikes when they leave the city. To get this information you can ask Amy or check its website.

What should I do if I am sick? Make sure you carry your health insurance card around with you at all times. Fulbright/IIE will give you relevant information.

Can I get funding for my classes? There is funding available to support outdoor cultural activities for you and your students, visiting a restaurant, however, is not one of them! The funds are availabe after the proposal is approved. Consult this matter with your mentor and ask Monica about the requirements.

How do I read the evaluation from my students? This evaluation is available online for big classes and is sent to your mentor for small classes.

What should I do when I lose my things in the building? Speak to the office manager of the building and ask if someone turned in anything. They might then suggest you to contact the janitor's office building (ABM). In this case you may need to pick it up from their office.

Is there chase ATM (the bank IIE send your stipend to) around here? Yes, but it is not really chase bank. This is an ATM bank affiliates with Chase but to withdraw money from it should cost less than any other banks' ATM. It is located on University Avenue 100 (the back door, the entrance is on High Street or Emmerson (sorry!)).

Should I get another bank account, other than IIE? All FLTAs now are using Citibank on University Avenue. We use this as it is more convenient to pay the rent with a check rather than carrying cash around.
