    Course Requirements & Grade Distribution
       
    1. One essay, 6-7 pages long, dealing with literary works discussed.

    2. Essay to focus on:
      1. a major theme or issue introduced and emphasized by more than one author in the course.
      2. relevance of temporal and spatial relations in works studied in the course.
      3. a critical examination of the cultural bias, or lack thereof, in works discussed. (Due on Wednesday, May 15, 2000): 30%
    3. Interview Project: 10%
    4. Final Exam: 50%
    5. Attendance & Participation (in Classroom Discussion): 10%
