EJMES, founded and run primarily by graduate students,is committed to publishing scholarly writings on the modern Middle East--both inter- disciplinary works and works within the traditional boundaries of the social sciences and humanities. Although EJMES especially encourages submission from graduate students, any author may submit articles for consideration. The EJMES editorial board is committed to non-partisanship, and makes publication decisions based solely on the academic merit of submitted articles. We consider clearly-articulated and informed positions to be vital to constructive discussion on the complex and often contentious issues that characterize the modern Middle East.EJMES is also looking for lively reviews of books & cultural events that are understandable to those outside, as well as inside, academia. Unlike traditional magazines on the Middle East,EJMES is published on the internet, at http://cis-server.mit.edu/mideast/. As an internet magazine, we believe that EJMES will be able to take advantage of the benefits of computer communication to reach a wide & diverse audience of Middle East observers and researchers. We fully believe that EJMES will help facilitate scholarly communication among colleagues & other scholars. This journal is based at the web site of the Center for International Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. EJMES advisory board currently consists of: Philip Khoury (chair), Roger Owen, A. R. Norton, and William Quandt. |
