Sponsored by Codex, The Stanford Center for Legal Information for Legal Informatics and the Stanford Center for Law and the Biosciences

Speaker: Mark Musen
Ontologies and controlled terminologies have played important roles in biomedicine. This talk will examine the history of formal ontology in biomedicine, and will discuss some of the technical and political difficulties that now confront workers in biomedicine. The experience in the life sciences and clinical arena is instructive for ongoing research to formalize and disseminate legal knowledge online.
