| 7:30PM | Radicals Transmute Tradition: New Queer Voices
at Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, led by Andrew Ramer and Miryam Kabakov Following an alternative Havdallah led by Cantor Sharon Bernstein, authors from two recently published LGBT anthologies and one novel will be reading and sharing images from their work. These books are Balancing on the Mechitza: Transgender in the Jewish Community, Keep Your Wives Away from Them: Orthodox Women, Unorthodox Desires, and Kabbalah of Stone, a tale of same-sex love set in Spain just before the expulsion. Following the reading there will be a festive oneg. |
*For those interested, Havdalah service will be held at Sha'ar Zahav before the reading and reception **Please note that there is no synagogue parking at Sha'ar Zahav. Parking can be found on Hoff Street garage off 16th, between Mission and Valencia. |
