Program: Queer Jewish Religiosity in America: Directions and Trends

Radicals Transmute Tradition: New Queer Voices at Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, led by Andrew Ramer and Miryam Kabakov
Followed by a reception

Following an alternative Havdallah led by Cantor Sharon Bernstein, authors from two recently published LGBT anthologies and one novel will be reading and sharing images from their work. These books are Balancing on the Mechitza: Transgender in the Jewish Community, Keep Your Wives Away from Them: Orthodox Women, Unorthodox Desires, and Kabbalah of Stone, a tale of same-sex love set in Spain just before the expulsion. Following the reading there will be a festive oneg.
