Project Overview

This is the official site for the upgrade of PeopleSoft at Stanford from version 7.6 to version 8, scheduled for summer 2004.

Stanford University uses PeopleSoft for both the Human Resources Management System and the Student Administration System, which includes the Axess web site (student and faculty self-service). The version 8 upgrade project replaces those current systems and sites with an updated version. Additionally, the project will implement online access for all users.

Mission, Vision

The PeopleSoft Version 8 Upgrade Project (PS V8) mission is to provide an upgrade, within budget, of the PeopleSoft 7.6 system to the PeopleSoft 8 system, including web self-service, without any loss of functionality and reliability by August 10, 2004. Where enhanced functionality of version 8 will reliably replace an existing customization and thus require less effort than reapplying the customization, version 8 will be used.

The vision of using PeopleSoft at Stanford is to have a well-documented "best in class" system that is easy to use and allows for future upgrades, patches, or additional functions.

The PS V8 project team is partnering with business owners, central offices, other ITSS employees, and advisory groups to accomplish this upgrade.

The "go live" date for PeopleSoft version 8 is Tuesday, August 10, 2004. Prior to that, development, testing, training, and security setting will occur.

Note: Training for new users to use PeopleSoft version 8 will occur on a quarterly basis as it does currently for Student Administration, starting in fall 2004. Classroom training will be replaced by online training and one-on-one coaching for HRMS.
