Stanford Desktop Tools for Macintosh 2.0
On this page:
Description
Stanford Desktop Tools is an application that simplifies the process of keeping your Stanford site-licensed software up-to-date. It lets you choose which applications you want to keep updated and how often you want to check for updates.
Stanford Desktop Tools automatically checks for updates on the schedule that you specify and will notify you of all possible updates. You can then launch Stanford Desktop Tools at your convenience and install all the updates from within the tool.
You can also use Stanford Desktop Tools to authenticate to Kerberos and access Stanford OpenAFS functions (if the application is installed).
System Requirements
- Supported Operating Systems: Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5
- Download file size: 6.8 MB
Notes
- The Kerberos for Macintosh Configuration Tool is automatically installed
when you install Stanford Desktop Tools. This configures Kerberos,
which is built in to Mac OS X, for use at Stanford.
- MacLeland is automatically uninstalled when you install Stanford Desktop
Tools because the Kerberos for Macintosh Configuration Tool will uninstall
MacLeland if it is present on your computer.
Notes for MacLeland Users:
- When you run Stanford Desktop Tools, the familiar
MacLeland menu bar icon
will
be removed.
- Some of MacLeland's features are no longer available, including:
- The visual indication (a double-headed arrow) that you are authenticated.
- The email proxy service, which is no longer supported.
- The screen lock feature.
