Installing the eyeBeam Softphone on Windows

Before You Begin
- You will need a copy of the email message from the Stanford Soft
Phone project team that contains
your pilot ID and license key.
- You may need to restart your computer to complete the installation.
You should close any open programs to prevent the loss of
data.
- You must be logged in to Windows as a user with administrator privileges.
Downloading and Installing the eyeBeam Softphone
- Download and run the eyeBeam installer file.
- Enter your Pilot ID, Display
Name, and License Key. (Your pilot ID and
license key were sent to you in an email message from the Stanford
Soft Phone team. The display name is the name you want displayed
on your outgoing calls.) Click OK to
continue.

- When the Welcome page is displayed, click Next to
continue.

- Accept the license agreement and then click Next to continue.

- Select the directory where you want the eyeBeam files to be installed.
To accept the default, click Next. Otherwise, click
Browse to choose another directory and then click Next.

- Check the boxes of any additional tasks that you would like the Setup
Wizard to perform and then click Next.

- Uncheck the Launch eyeBeam box and click Finish.

- If prompted to restart your computer
to complete the installation, click Yes.

- Now that you have installed the software, you need to configure the eyeBeam softphone before it can be used.
Configuring the eyeBeam Softphone
- Launch the eyeBeam softphone by double-clicking the eyeBeam shortcut on
your desktop
(if
you had one installed during setup) or by clicking the Start button
and navigating to Programs > eyeBeam 1.5 > eyeBeam.
- Click the downward arrow on the top left of the softphone to open the menu
and then click SIP
Account Settings.

- In the SIP Accounts dialog box,
select the line with your account and click Properties.

- In the User Details area of the Properties dialog box, enter your SUNet ID in the Password field and then click OK.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you enter your SUNet ID in the Password field, NOT your SUNet ID password.

- Click Close to close the SIP Accounts dialog box.
- Click the downward arrow on the top left of the softphone to open the menu
and then click Options.

- In the Basic Options section of the dialog box, make sure that Prompt
me when an upgrade is available is not checked.

- Click Advanced in the lower left corner of the Options dialog box.
- Click the Quality of Service icon in the left pane and then select the following options:
- Audio QoS: None
- Video QoS: None
- Signaling QoS: None

- Click OK to close the Options dialog box. You are now ready to use the eyeBeam softphone.
