Feature Keys

The Line/Feature keys are used to access your phone lines and Stanford's phone system features. (The more Lines that you have on you phone, the fewer keys that are available for system features.) The functionality of the keys is determined when your phone is ordered. You cannot change the function of a Feature key from your phone but you can change how it is labeled.

Change a Feature Key Label

  1. On the display, press the Menu soft key.

  2. Press the Down navigation key to scroll down the list and highlight item #4, Feature.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Use the Up and Down navigation keys to highlight the Feature key for which you wish to change the label.

  5. Press OK.

  6. Highlight #1, Label.

  7. Press OK.

  8. At the Enter Label prompt, use the dial pad keys that correspond to the letters you wish to use.

  9. Press OK.

  10. Press the Quit key to close the menu.

Notes

  • Feature keys are not available on IP Phone 2001 sets.

  • The IP Phone 2002 and IP Phone 2004 sets have more Feature keys than can be displayed at a time. Use the Up and Down navigation keys to access the features that are not displayed.

  • When the Feature menu is selected, pressing the Reset soft key deletes all of the labels on your display except for your phone number.  The features still exist in the phone system, but IT Services Order Management will have to reenter the feature labels in order for them to appear on your display again.

  • The numeric keys on your dial pad are also associated with the letters of the alphabet. Pressing a key repeatedly cycles through the number and letters (both upper and lower case) associated with the key.

  • When using the dial pad keys to enter a label, a Symbols soft key will appear for a short period of time. The Symbols soft key accesses a symbols menu associated with the number and character set of the selected key. A More soft key is available on the symbols screen, which displays all the symbols available for all keys.

  • To enter a space, press the 0 key.

  • Feature key 1 is sometimes referred to as your PDN -- that is, your Primary Directory Number.
