Caller ID

The feature is divided into two parts: incoming Caller ID, which lets you see the telephone number for calls coming into your phone, and outgoing Caller ID, which lets people you call see your telephone number.

All IP Phones display incoming Caller ID. The information that appears in your display is dependent on whether incoming callers have outgoing Caller ID blocked or unblocked on their phone.

The outgoing Caller ID feature has two possible settings: Blocked or Unblocked. Caller ID Blocked keeps your telephone number private when you call an off-campus number; Caller ID Unblocked transmits this information when you place a call. For outgoing calls from Stanford, the default is Blocked. You can override your phone's default setting for individual calls by dialing a feature access code.

Override the "Blocked" Setting For a Single Call

  1. Dial * 8 2.
You hear three beeps, followed by dial tone.
Note: This code also works for calls made to on-campus numbers.

Override the "Unblocked" Setting For a Single Call

  1. Dial * 6 7.
You hear three beeps, followed by dial tone.

  2. Dial + 7-digit phone number or 9 + 1 + 10-digit phone number.
Your call is sent out without its Caller ID information.

Note: This code also works for calls made to on-campus numbers.
