Technical Facilities
What We Do
The Technical Facilities department within Computing Services is responsible for providing operational management and support for mission critical facilities housing IT Services production systems and supporting infrastructure. This includes the Forsythe and Sweet Hall data centers,12 geographically distributed Electronic Communications Hub facilities, and the Auxiliary Data Center located in Livermore, California.
The TFAC Operations team is responsible for space planning, vendor/ customer coordination, system hardware installation (both customer and enterprise), cabinetry, low voltage cabling, and branch circuit distribution within the mission-critical sites.
The TFAC Facilities team is responsible for maintenance and monitoring of specialized building support systems, e.g., UPS systems, Rectifiers, Battery plants, and Power Distribution Units. In addition, the Facilities team is responsible for coordinating vendor and University Facilities Operations teams performing work within the mission-critical sites.
The TFAC Property Administration team is responsible for tracking all equipment (both customer and enterprise) within the data centers and select mission-critical sites. Additional duties include property administration support for IT Services, Administrative Services, and the CFO’s Office.
