Service Management

What We Do

The mission of the Service Management organization is to oversee life-cycle management for services provided to the Stanford community by IT Services. Our primary goals are to:

  • Provide complete life-cycle management of services, including selection, definition, development, delivery, and exit.
  • Identify and facilitate provision of solutions which are centered around Stanford's business and academic needs.
  • Ensure two-way communication between IT Services and its clients.
  • Maintain strong internal communication and good working relationships between Business Services and Communication Services, Client Support, and Computing Services.

Service Management

The Service Managers are accountable for end-to-end delivery of services. They lead cross-functional service teams, including technical, business, financial, and project management expertise, to ensure that services are delivered to clients. The Service Manager works directly with clients, IT Services Business Partners, and IT Services staff across organization lines to enhance existing services, create new services, and sunset services which are at end-of-life.

Business Partners and Support

The Business Partners build and maintain long-term partnerships with major campus organizations who use the services we provide. They provide a single point of contact for those clients for strategic planning and long-range IT issues, help them navigate the many available services provided by the different groups in IT Services, and negotiate clear and reasonable service level agreements.

Business Partner Support provides operational support for the Business Partners in their work with clients. This includes working directly with the Business Partners and with key clients to ensure that ongoing client requirements for IT Services support and fulfillment of orders for service are met.
