Contribute to the artistic and academic vision of the Institute for Diversity in the Arts (IDA) at Stanford through a year-long fellowship with IDA. Four students will be selected as IDA Student Fellows for 2006-07. IDA Fellows will participate in arts workshops as teaching assistants and provide student leadership as IDA program staff.
Responsibilities
for the 2004-05 school year include:
--Identify and further learning objectives for your involvement with IDA related to your major or artistic pursuits. --Assist IDA individual artists to develop classes and community collaborations
--Serve as teaching assistants for
classes taught by the artists in Winter
Qtr. 2007
--Coordinate promotional and student
recruitment efforts on campus.
--Serve as a liaison between IDA and
the community
--Help produce IDA final events and productions with the artists, students, and the community.
--Work in the IDA office with the Associate Director and help coordinate a Spring Qtr. Community Arts Seminar.
Fellowship with IDA is a three quarter commitment. Academic credit and quarterly stipend is offered as compensation. Students must apply. Students must be available Tuesdays & Thursdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. as well as during the drama 110 class (Tues/Thurs 3:15-6:00) during the winter quarter 2007.
In addition to course credit and stipend, Student Fellows will be rewarded with the experience of participating in a unique artistic collaboration between artists, faculty, students and surrounding communities. Fellows will also have the opportunity to mentor with professional artists, develop artistic relationships and contacts, and receive professional development opportunities in the arts. In the process, students will help to foster community arts at Stanford. IDA Fellows will receive a stipend each quarter for a total annual stipend of $3000.
Experience
with artistic expression and public
service is highly encouraged. Student
Fellows must have an expressed interest
in, and commitment to, issues of diversity
and have some background in the art
form of the visiting artist they select
to work with. Fellows must also possess
strong organizing and interpersonal
skills and will be required to work
independently as well as under the
direction of the artists and the IDA
staff.
