SEVIS requirements for students on Post-completion Practical Training updated 1/31/2005 |

Students on post-completion practical training who depart the U.S. for short periods, must present a valid passport with a valid F1 visa stamp (Canadian citizens do not need the visa stamp), a valid EAD card, evidence of appropriate post-completion practical training employment in the form of a job offer letter or employer's letter verifying employment, and a valid I-20 with the practical training period noted on page 3, that has been *signed for travel on page 3 by a Foreign Student Advisor within the past 6 months.
It is the student's legal responsibility to provide the I-Center with the following information so that it can be reported to SEVIS:
Address changes should be made through AXESS. The HOME address must ALWAYS be the residence address outside the U.S. The DIRECTORY address must ALWAYS be the residence address within the U.S even after you depart the U.S. (either temporarily or permanently). It cannot be a P.O.,Box address or an office address. Follow these instructions for updating your address in AXESS.
Departure from U.S. prior to end of practical training Report this departure to the I-Center ONLY if you will not return to the U.S. prior to the end of your practical training period or you will return in another visa status. Email the following information to post-completionopt@lists.stanford.edu and use DEPARTURE in the subject line:
You can also mail this information to: Bechtel International Center, Attn: Foreign Student Advisor, PO Box 20227, Stanford, CA 94309 Mail to the attention of the Foreign Student Advisors at the I-Center a photocopy of the evidence (I-94 card, Approval Notice, or Green Card) of your visa status change and include your Stanford ID number, your SEVIS ID number (or photocopy of your SEVIS I-20), and your email address in case more information is needed. You may also FAX this information to the I-Center, Attention: Foreign Student Advisors. The FAX number is (650) 725-0886. Starting a new degree program at a new school after a period of Post-Completion practical training If you will begin a new degree program at another U.S. school either prior to the end of your post-completion practical training period, or up to 5 months after the end of your practical training period, you must provide the I-Center with the following information so that an I-Center advisor can properly transfer your SEVIS record to the new school, enabling the new school to issue you an I-20:
If you plan to start your new degree program after the end of your practical training period, keep in mind that the I-Center must input the transfer information into SEVIS not later than 60 days after the end of your practical training period, or the new school will not be able to issue you the new I-20. Report the above information to the I-Center by emailing it to post-completionopt@lists.stanford.edu and use TRANSFER in the subject line. Adding a new F2 dependent or terminating the status of an F2 dependent If you add a new F2 dependent while you are on post-completion practical training,, a new I-20 must be made for you and a separate one for your dependant showing the additional expenses of the dependent and additional funding you must provide to support the dependent. To apply for a new I-20 for an additional dependent, mail the following to the I-Center:
