For information regarding the waiver of the J visa two-year foreign residency requirement, the exchange visitors skills list... you may review the U.S. State Department's web site.
As a J-1 student, you are eligible for a variety of work opportunities in the U.S., but employment without proper authorization is a serious violation of status. Remember that before you start ANY kind of employment (even on campus), you must first consult with your J-1 Responsible Officer, whose written approval is necessary in advance.
For J-1 visa program participants who have questions regarding the two-year-home-country physical presence requirement as mentioned in Section 212(e).
