Welcome to the Office for International Visitors at Stanford University

The Office for International Visitors (OIV) at Stanford University is part of the Bechtel International Center. We serve the university by facilitating requests for professional meetings and short-term visits to Stanford University by international academics and university staff, as well as journalists and any other official visitors. In providing this service to the university, we help individual departments with this responsibility. Departments should feel free to contact us for help in arranging visits.

Our programs provide international participants and their U.S. counterparts with opportunities to exchange information and ideas and to develop enduring professional relationships. These programs also give visitors insights into our culture, organizations and institutions.

Services that we provide include:

  • matching international visitors' requests with on-campus resources
  • checking the availability of Stanford resources to meet with the visitor or delegation and setting up professional appointments with appropriate faculty or staff
  • coordinating visitor's or delegation's schedule for their visit to Stanford University (usually one-day visit)
  • welcoming visitors and providing them with assistance during their visit.

We also arrange visits for participants of official programs such as the International Visitor Leadership Program and the Eisenhower Fellowship program.
