Removing the enrollment hold

Immigration law requires that this university verify a student's initial arrival on-campus and current U.S. residence address.

NOTE: International students with the ENR 31 enrollment hold (placed by the Bechtel International Center) will not be prevented from accessing their assigned housing quarters. (Graduate Housing will be updating their web site shortly with this information.)

A hold has been placed on your enrollment until you appear at the Bechtel International Center
(I-Center) to verify the following:

  1. your physical presence at Stanford
  2. you have entered your local residence address into the 'Student Directory (local) address' field of Axess
  3. you have attended the Maintaining Your Legal Status workshop

To remove your hold, do the following:

1. Create your current Student Directory (local) address in Axess

2. Photocopy the following documents:

a) The following pages from your passport:
- the visa stamp page
- expiration of passport page
- photo page

b) Your I-94 card (front and back) - This is also known as your arrival / departure record. This white small peace of paper is probably stapled to your passport visa stamp page.

c) Your I-20 (pages 1 & 3) OR DS-2019 (the front page only)

3. Attend ONE of the Maintaining Your Legal Status sessions at the Bechtel International Center and bring the photocopies listed in item 2 (above) to the session. They will be collected by an I-Center staff member at that time. You should also bring your Stanford ID card with you when you come the the I-Center.

Important: Photocopies can be made at FedEx Kinkos located in Tresidder Union on campus. There will be NO photocopy service available at the I-Center for this purpose.
