The objective of this course is to assist graduate students adapting to the Stanford environment in terms of academic, psychosocial, financial, and career issues and how these relate to diversity, minority services, resources, policies and procedures. Presentations will be made by guest faculty, advanced graduate students, campus administrators, and the dean’s office and will include the Stanford Writing Center, Graduate Life Office, Career Development Center, Center for Teaching and Learning, and Faculty Development.
Graduate students in all of Stanford's seven Schools are invited to participate.
One unit grade will be satisfactory/no credit. Attendance and participation in all class meetings is expected. You may have no more than one unexcused absence. Students who have exhausted their allotted credits may audit the course by e-mailing the instructor. Although the course is scheduled from 11:55am – 1:10pm, we usually finish by 1:00pm. Students who need to leave the seminar to take another course are permitted.
