Undergraduate > Herodotus

Herodotus is the undergraduate history journal, published once a year in time for June graduation. It is one of the oldest continuously published student-run journals at Stanford University.

The staff of Herodotus is comprised of an editor-in-chief (sometimes co-editors share the position) and an editorial board of some 3-4 students. Herodotus welcomes the participation of history majors and minors in this effort. To volunteer for the editorial board, please contact the Undergraduate Student Services Officer.

In the latter part of winter quarter, history papers are solicited from students for publication. This is accomplished with emails from the student services officer to the undergraduate history major list and from faculty recommendations of outstanding papers written for their courses.

In early spring quarter, the editor and editorial board members select the papers that will be published and notify the students whose work has been selected. The editing work then commences, and the process culminates with publication of the finished journal in time for the June graduation ceremonies.

Copies of past issues of Herodotus are available on this website.
