A talk by Pioneer Feminist Historian Sheila Rowbotham

The History Department welcomes pioneer feminist historian Sheila Rowbotham, who will present her recent biography of Edward Carpenter, 19th and early 20th century English socialist poet, early gay activist and socialist philosopher. Sheila Rowbotham is a Professor of Sociology at Manchester University whose socialist feminist scholarship has included Marxist-feminist analysis of contemporary social conditions including the lives of lower-middle and working class women, and grassroots activist movements in Britain. Cosponsored by the History Department, British Studies, Feminist Studies, LBGT, the Clayman Center and the Stanford Humanities Center. *A light lunch will be provided, please RSVP on facebook or to sharig@stanford.edu.
