Admit Weekend History Department Open House - The present is unthinkable and unmanageable without critical knowledge of the past. History courses teach how to think historically -- understand cultures placed at a distance in time or space, explain complicated social, economic, religious, political, and cultural processes without sacrificing the factor of individual agency, use documents critically, and gain research and writing skills that will serve us all our post-graduate lives. Several history department faculty who currently teach in the Introduction to the Humanities (IHUM) program will welcome students and parents. They will describe their IHUM courses as well as the history curriculum and answer questions about the numerous opportunities offered by the department.
