The History Department Fellowship offers 5 years of financial support to PhD students. The fellowship provides support for tuition and a stipend. The funding package includes a combination of fellowship stipends, teaching assistantships (TAships), and research assistantships (RAships). Currently, the fellowship includes support for 3 summers.

Here is a sample of how a PhD student is funded:

  • 1st year: 3 quarters fellowship stipend and 1 summer RAship
  • 2nd year: 2 quarters TAships, 1 quarter fellowship stipend, and 1 summer RAship
  • 3rd year: 2 quarters TAships, 1 quarter fellowship stipend, and 1 summer RAship
  • 4th year: 3 quarters of RAships (pre-doc affiliate)
  • 5th year: 3 quarters of RAships (pre-doc affiliate)

Unfortunately, no funding is offered for the terminal MA program
