Student Housing operates, cleans, maintains, furnishes and provides general landlord services for a physical plant of 4.5 million square feet of campus residential space in 350 different housing facilities on campus for over 12,000 students and their families (including 97% of undergraduate and 60% of graduate students). It is Student Housing's mission to support the educational activity of Stanford students by providing them with clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained residences. In addition to the custodial and maintenance services that Student Housing manages for the residences, we also manage all student housing assignments, a 20-year Housing Capital Improvement Renovation Program, ongoing planned projects and sustainability programs, and a full-time "one-stop-shop" customer service model in our regional Housing Service Centers (front desks).
Student Housing is a non-profit University-managed auxiliary service that receives no subsidy from Stanford University. Revenue for the department comes solely from student and conferee room rates, and supports all Student Housing costs in the Stanford housing system. In an effort to keep room rates for students as low as possible, we strive to streamline operations wherever possible and reduce utility and energy costs as much as possible. We see students as our partners in providing the highest quality services and support systems to residents while managing housing overall in a fiscally responsible way to keep student housing rates as low as possible.
