Lowrise
apartments have
one or two stories and are spread over many acres in
Escondido Village. Most single students in EV live in
the low rises. Pictured here is one of the singles neighborhoods
with a grassy courtyard and sand volleyball court between
rows of lowrise apartment building. |
Blackwelderis
a 12 story apartment building with 110 apartments,
each occupied by a couple or shared by two single
students. One of the single students usually occupies
the living room.
|
Here
is the living room of a Blackwelder apartment. It is
the living space for one student. It has a twin-extra
long bed, desk, bookcase, dresser, and a small table
and two chairs. A large sliding glass door opens onto
a small ledge with a railing. The ledge is about 8 inches
wide, just large enough to set out some potted plants. |
This
is a bedroom in the Blackwelder apartment building.
It has a twin-size bed, desk, night stand, bookcase,
and dressser. In this apartment, a second sliding
glass door opens onto the balcony. Some apartments
have a window in the bedroom, but not doors. Bed linens,
towels and lamps are not included.
|
Here
is another photo of the same bedroom in Blackwelder,
showing the closet. Since the student who occupies
the bedroom gets more privacy than the one in the
living room, some students make an agreement to switch
places mid-year.
|
| The
kitchenette in Blackwelder includes a three or four-burner
electric stove with oven, a sink with a garbage disposal
unit, and a refrigerator/freezer (located across from
the counter. |
Here
is the view from a Blackwelder apartment. It shows Blackwelder
court which has many two story townhouse apartments
for single students. Each apartment has two or three
bedrooms. Inside the courtyard is a grassy wooded area
with a sand volleyball court. Hoover Tower is visible
in the distance. |
Many
single students share two or three bedroom, one bathroom
apartments. Most of these singles apartments are in
buildings 1 through 54 or in buildings 116 through
144. In this apartment in "the Oasis" (the
neighborhood between Rains and Mirrielees), the kitchen
and its washer and dryer hook-ups are visible. Students
may choose to rent or purchase a washer and dryer
for their apartment, but Student Housing
does not provide them.

Here
is the living room in the "Oasis" apartment
described above. It includes a small sofa, coffee table,
end table, and bookcase. |
Pictured
at left is the dining room of the "Oasis"
apartment, along with the bookcases in the living
room.
