Description of Residential Building Campus residence close to the center of campus with single and shared rooms. Lounge areas available to
all residents.

Housing will be shared with other Stanford summer visitors.
Walk-up apartment building with 2-Bedroom, 1-Bath and 4-Bedroom, 2-Bath units. Common kitchen and living room. Stanford graduate students will be living in this complex along with summer visitors. Apartment building with elevator. Stanford graduate students will be living in the studio building along with the summer visitors. Most 1-Bedroom apartments are in 8- and 12-story buildings with an elevator, a laundry room in the basement and a common area on the ground floor, which is available to all residents. Most 2- and 3-bedroom apartments are 2-story townhouse style units arranged around a fenced, grassy common area courtyard. Some courtyards are designed for families and have play equipment.
Conference Front Desk Governor's Corner Conference Front Desk is open from 8 A.M. - 10 P.M. daily to assist guests with check-in/check-out, campus information, sale of parking permits and assistance with room “lock outs.” A Front Desk student employee is on call from 10 P.M. - 8 A.M. for late arrivals. Room Configurations Single or double occupancy rooms with
community bathrooms.
Single-occupancy bedroom in a shared apartment. Bathroom shared with one other person of the same gender. Studio apartment with private bathroom and kitchen. Bathroom includes tub/shower combination. Private apartment with a bedroom, a living room, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. Private apartment with 2 or 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
In-Room Furniture Twin bed, desk, chair, bureau or wardrobe for each person. Bedrooms have an extra-long twin bed, a side table, a desk and chair, shelves, and a bureau. Living room has a couch, a cushioned chair, a side table, and some have coffee tables. Double bed, desk, chair, two-seat sofa, closet, barstool and kitchen counter. Most 1-bedroom apartments have queen beds, but a few have double beds. Other bedroom furniture includes a side table, a desk and chair, bookshelves, and 2 bureaus. Living room has a couch, a coffee table, a dining table, and chairs

Master bedroom has a queen bed, a desk, a chair, 2 bureaus, two bookshelves, and a side table. Each additional bedroom has a twin extra-long bed, a bureau, a side table, and a bookshelf. Living room has a couch, a coffee table, a side table, a dining table, and chairs.

In-Room Housekeeping Service

Beds are made up with sheets, blanket and pillow upon arrival. Two bath towels, a washcloth and a bar of soap are also provided. Linens are changed every seven days of occupancy.

Weekly housekeeping service is provided.
Linen packs consisting of towels, sheets, a pillow and blanket can be rented for $30 (this option can be selected via the on-line application).
Although housekeeping service is NOT included in the studio apartment rate, guests can arrange for optional housekeeping service through the Escondido Village Conference Front Desk. In addition, linen packs consisting of towels, sheets, a pillow and blanket can be rented for $30 (this option can be selected via the on-line application).

Housekeeping Service for Common Areas of Residence Common areas, hallways and lounges are cleaned daily, Monday-Friday, except on July 4.   Common areas, hallways and lounges are cleaned daily, Monday-Friday, except on July 4. Laundry Facilities (washers and dryers) Provided in each building at no charge. There are 5 laundry rooms in the Rains complex. There is no charge to use the machine. There are two common area laundry rooms in Escondido Village . One is located near the administration building, and one is located in the area of Escondido Village located between Mirrielees and the Rains complex.

Cooking Facilities and Campus Dining Options

No cooking facilities are available in the residence halls.

For campus dining, Cardinal Dollars meal cards, available for purchase at the Front Desk, can be used at all Stanford Dining Retail locations.

Additional Information:

Payment of Fees: Full payment for your entire stay, including a $25 processing fee, must be paid upon check-in at the Service Center . We accept MasterCard, Visa, cash or checks. We do not accept American Express Cards.

Parking Permits: Parking permits are required for campus parking and can be purchased from the Service Center . Daily Conference Parking Scratchers are $4.50/day and Monthly Parking Permits are $24.

Internet Access: Internet service, during your campus stay, is available through Stanford's Residential Computing department. Prior to arriving on campus, please make arrangements for Internet service by visiting Residential Computing's website at
http://rescomp.stanford.edu/conferences. Please note that you will need to have an Ethernet cable upon your arrival. In certain campus locations (excluding the residences) wireless Internet service is also available. As referenced above, arrangements for wireless and/or wired Internet services need to be made through Residential Computing, prior to your arrival at Stanford.

Library Access: Guests are eligible for on-site access to most University library collections by presenting a valid Conference ID Card, issued upon check-in. Please note that your Conference ID Card does not confer borrowing privileges. Information regarding library hours and services is available on the Stanford University Libraries website http://www-sul.stanford.edu

Athletic Facilities: Information on purchasing athletic facility passes is currently being updated for 2008.

Campus Transportation: Campus shuttle service (known as "the Marguerite”) is available on weekdays, 6 AM - 8:30 PM. No weekend service is provided. For Marguerite information and updates, please consult your Service Center or visit http://transportation.stanford.edu
