All matriculated Stanford students and summer visitors must submit their Summer Housing applications in Axess to participate in the Summer Allocation or Summer Waiting List lottery rounds. For more information on applying though Axess, visit the Application Instructions web page. If you are unable to apply in Axess, you may submit a paper application. Note that paper applications must be received by Housing Assignments by the first weekday following the Axess application deadline. Applications should be mailed to: Summer Housing Assignment Coordinator, Housing Assignments, 630 Serra Street, Suite 110, Stanford, CA 94305-6034. You may fax your application to (650) 736-1297 in order for it to be received by the deadline but you must also mail the original to Housing Assignments. Do not submit both a paper application and an application on Axess.
Click here to access the paper application in pdf format. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the form.)
Instructions
Use the following information to complete your summer housing
paper application:
1. ID Number. Enter your Stanford student ID number.
Your Stanford ID number is the eight digit number beginning with a single 0 assigned to you by the University. Summer Visitors receive their ID numbers by email once they accept
the offer to attend Stanford. New graduate
students (except students in professional schools) will find their ID numbers on the Response to Offer of Admission form. Applications that
do not include a Stanford student ID number cannot be processed.
2. Name. Print your last name (family name) first.
3. Gender.
4. Date of Birth.
5. Status. Your student status is the same as you
indicated on your Stanford Summer Session application (please
contact the Registrar's Office at (650) 723-2041 if you
need information on your student status).
6. Type of Housing. Indicate the type of
housing for which you are applying: Single Undergraduate, Single Graduate, Couple without Children, or Student with Children.
7. Housing Dates. Indicate the housing contract length desired: 10-weeks, 8-weeks, or 6-weeks for students attending the English for Foreign Students 688 Program. Students choosing a special contract length under "Other" must fill in the specific course name and its dates. Only students enrolled in an official Summer Session course with dates outside of the standard 8- and 10-week lengths are eligible for a special-length contract.
8. Summer-Autumn Interim Housing. [For matriculated undergraduate students only.] Summer-Autumn Interim Housing, the period between the end of the 10-week summer undergraduate contract and the beginning of the Undergraduate Autumn Housing contract, is billed separately from your rent on your autumn bill. Students living in Undergraduate Housing on a 10-week summer contract who will be continuing in housing through autumn may choose this option. Students may be required to move to a different residence or room during interim.
Students may have Summer-Autumn
Interim Housing added or removed (if it is an option)
from their contracts if requested by the assignment round application deadline or with a Summer Change Request form by August 3. A $25 administrative
fee will be charged for every approved Summer Change Request form submitted.
9. Notification of Assignment
Results. Check the “Notification of Assignment Results” box if you will be unable to log into Axess when assignment results are announced. The results of the Summer Allocation will be mailed to the mailing address you have on file in the Registrar’s Office. Assignment results for new Stanford graduate students who have not yet enrolled will be sent to the address on file in the Graduate Admissions Support Section. Please inform the appropriate Stanford department of any mailing address changes. It is your responsibility to contact Housing Assignments to obtain your assignment if you have not received any notification within ten days after results are announced. Housing Assignments is not responsible for mail delivery delays that are beyond its control, and does not re-send returned mail.
Students who applied
on Axess and those who did not request notification of assignment results must use Axess to view and respond to an assignment.
Waiting list results are not mailed due to time considerations.
Waiting List applicants who are unable to log into Axess when assignment results are announced may contact Housing Assignments
at (650) 725-2810, or e-mail housingassignments@lists.stanford.edu,
to confirm their assignment results.
SINGLE STUDENTS: READ SECTIONS 10-12 AND 17.
10. Group. Students who want to live in the same
residence with one or more friends may apply as members
of a group. If
you do not want to enter the Allocation or Waiting List
with another student, leave this section blank.
Group members must jointly determine a common group name and password
for the group and write them on each application.
Choose a group name that is unique and not easily duplicated.
The group name and group password must be different. Each
should be a minimum of five characters but no more than
eight, and each must consist of at least one alpha and one
numeric character (no symbols or spaces).
In addition, list the names of your group members on the
application--example: group name "4ladies", group password
"in1city", group members Miranda Hobbes, Samantha Jones and Charlotte York. Each
member of the group must list the same group name and password
on their application. Students applying on paper and those applying
through Axess may join a group together.
11. Single Student Information
and Roommate Preference Card. If you are a single graduate student,
complete the Roommate Preference Card. Room/apartment
and roommate assignments are made by your summer Housing Service Center
office after you have accepted your housing assignment.
Room and roommate assignments are not available until
the opening day of residences. Because most continuing
graduate students remain in their same room/apartment during
both the spring and summer terms, there are few wholly vacant
rooms/apartments to assign to graduate
student groups. If you have any questions about room/roommate
assignments, contact your Housing Service Center after housing assignments are announced.
12. Single Student Residence
Choices. List your residence choices in order of preference.
Indicate each choice by entering the residence code listed
below in one of the numbered boxes. Do not list a
choice where you would not accept an assignment. You
are only considered for assignment to the residences you
list on your application. There are no reassignments
for Summer Quarter, except due to changes in marital
or family status. All Undergraduate Housing residents in Manzanita Park and Wilbur Hall are required to purchase a Stanford Dining meal plan. See
the Stanford Dining web site for meal plan options and rates. Undergraduate students who do not select a meal plan will be assigned to the default plan, 14 meals per week.
Single graduate students may list only graduate
residence choices only, and single undergraduate students may
list only undergraduate residence choices only.
