- Have no delinquent bills
- Have no holds on your records
- Be up to date in payment of City of Palo Alto Utilities bill and
ISTA (if in Oak Creek) or ConService (if in Stanford
West) bills
- Have a housing priority year to use for 2008-09
- Plan to be enrolled as a matriculated Stanford graduate student for autumn of the 2008-09 academic year
Things you should know to make your decision
Off-campus housing contracts for 2008-09 will extend through June 15, 2009. It is possible that we will be able to extend your contract to as late as August 30, 2009, depending on the end date of Stanford's lease on your apartment.
Monthly rents for the 2008-09 academic year are effective as of 9/1/08 and are $933 per person for 2-bedroom apartments and $842 per person for 3-bedroom apartments.
At Oak Creek, no utilities are included in the rent. The students living in Oak Creek are responsible for paying City of Palo Utilities and ISTA bills each month.
At Stanford West, garbage pick-up is provided, but no other utilities are included in the rent. The students living in Stanford West are responsible for paying City of Palo Utilities and ConService bills each month.
This renewal will be for the 2008-09 academic year only, and you should not assume that you will be able to remain in your apartment for the 2009-10 academic year.
Once you sign your Residence Agreement for 2008-09 you will be in contract for the 2008-09 academic year.
Renewal Procedure:
We will begin to accept renewal applications on Friday, March 14, 2008. You will be able to come in and sign your contract beginning Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. Please do not come in before then because your paperwork will NOT be ready. You will need to submit a renewal application and sign your renewal paperwork by Thursday, April 10, 2008.
Please follow these instructions in order to renew your housing contract for the 2008-09 academic year. First, read the following documents using Internet Explorer:
- 2008-09 Stanford University Off-Campus Residence Agreement
- the Oak Creek or Stanford West sample 2008-09 lease packet, depending on where you live
After reading the documents, complete
the on-line renewal
application form. Please wait one full working day
for us to process your application and then go in person
to Community Housing to sign your Residence Agreement.
You must sign the Residence Agreement by April 10 in order
to keep your space in subsidized housing. Community
Housing is located at 630 Serra Street # 110 and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through
Friday.
If you submit this renewal application and then
decide to withdraw it before signing your Residence Agreement,
you are charged a $50 cancellation fee. Once you sign your
Residence Agreement, you are under contract. If you subsequently
cancel the assignment, you are charged a $400 administrative
fee plus you will be responsible for the rent on the space
until it is occupied by another eligible student.
If you do not renew your contract by the deadline, we will
expect you to submit a termination of occupancy form by
April 13, 2008 to let us know whether you are moving
out on one of the acceptable end-of-Spring moving
dates (May 7 through June 16 for law students or June 13-16, 2008 for all others), or during the summer (move-outs can be as late as August 31st). The termination form
can be completed through our web site. If you select a move-out date after June 16, 2008 we will extend your contract and add summer housing charges to your student bill.
If you neither submit an on-line renewal application
nor file a termination form by April 13, your off-campus contract will
automatically be canceled as of your contract end date of June 16, 2008 and
you will be assessed a $100 late termination fee. If you
delay completing one of these forms until after May 5, you will be assessed a $200 late termination fee.
Students who
are not sure whether or not they will graduate at the end of spring,
but who would like to remain in housing over the summer
in either case, should renew and sign their contracts by the deadline
of April 10; otherwise you will have to move out of your apartment at the end of your contract. There is a $200 fee imposed if you renew and then do in fact graduate at the end of summer.
