Faculty Foundation Relations is a central university office for fundraising from private professional foundations.* As part of the Office of the Provost, Faculty Foundation Relations provides prospect research, cultivation, coordination, grantwriting and stewardship assistance to faculty, administrators and center directors in their work with private foundations. For Stanford faculty and administrators, Faculty Foundation Relations can help identify and solicit potential funding sources, plan and coordinate approaches, edit inquiries and grant proposals, gather supporting material, and obtain institutional signatures. Other services provided by Faculty Foundation Relations include workshops on grantwriting and a quarterly electronic newsletter on foundation news for the Stanford community.

* Professional foundations are typically run by paid staff under the direction of a non-donor family board
and have defined program areas. Examples of professional foundations include the Ford Foundation,
the MacArthur Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Some professional foundations are staffed
by University Corporate and Foundation Relations in the Office of Development.  Stanford's fundraising
from corporate foundations is handled by Corporate Relations in the Office of Development. See Resources section.
