STEP Students

Requirements and Deadlines

Documents Required

STEP students seeking financial aid for Summer 2012 through Spring 2013 should file the following three documents:

  1. STEP Loan Application

Please complete and submit the STEP Loan Application.  You will be prompted to print a copy of your completed application just prior to submission.
  1. FAFSA 2011-2012 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

Please complete and submit the online FAFSA application for academic year 2012-2013.  Enter Stanford’s school code (001305) so that Stanford will receive your data.

If you have already filed a FAFSA for 2012-2013, you should open your saved FAFSA and add Stanford’s school code (001305) so that your FAFSA data will be sent to Stanford.
  1. FAFSA 2012-2013 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

Please complete and submit the online FAFSA application for academic year 2012-2013.  Enter Stanford’s school code (001305) so that Stanford will receive your data.

You must provide FAFSA data for both 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 because Summer quarter is considered to be part of the 2011-2012 academic year, while Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters are part of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Priority Filing Date

For the most advantageous funds through the FAO you should submit the three documents by March 1, 2012

Notification

The FAO will send email notification of awards available through the University’s data system, AXESS.  Federal loans are available for all quarters.  Quarterly disbursement amounts may be uneven to compensate for differing tuition costs. Your loan funds are disbursed to the University bill at the beginning of each quarter. You will be able to monitor loan disbursements via the AXESS website.
