Applying for Aid

Requirements and Deadlines

To apply for aid, you will need to complete the following required forms:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — A web-based application provided by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Graduate Application — Stanford’s institutional application.

Please be careful to complete the correct versions of these forms based on the time period for which you are requesting student loans for federal Work-Study funding through your department.  Use the following chart to find the appropriate versions and procedures:

Requirements and Deadlines for A/W/S 2012-13

FAFSA

2012-2013 FAFSA - Complete online with Stanford’s school code 001305 on or after January 1, 2012.

Graduate Application

The 2012-2013 Graduate Loan and Federal Work-Study (FWS) Application will be available here by February 24, 2012.

Priority Filing Deadline

Six weeks before first day of quarter(s) for which you wish to receive aid.

Requirements and Deadlines for A/W/S 2011-12

FAFSA

2011-2012 FAFSA - Complete online with Stanford’s school code 001305.

Graduate Application

2011-2012 Graduate Loan and Federal Work-Study (FWS) Application.

Priority Filing Deadline

Six weeks before first day of quarter(s) for which you wish to receive aid.

You can expect to receive notification of availability of an award letter at your Stanford email address within 6 to 8 weeks of completing all application requirements. You can track your status and award information on Axess.
