Undergraduate Employment Opportunities
If your financial aid award includes an academic year earnings expectation, the Financial Aid Office (FAO) recommends that you work part-time during the academic year. Most students can meet their earnings expectation by working six to seven hours per week. The FAO does not assign part-time jobs to students. You will need to contact an employer on campus to apply for a job. Starting in September, Stanford's Career Development Center (CDC) posts part-time job listings for students on the Cardinal Careers website. If you are working on campus, you will be paid semi-monthly through the university payroll system. If you prefer not to work during the academic year, you may convert part or
all of your earnings expectation to student loan eligibility. You will need to submit a request to
financialaid@stanford.edu To use your FWS eligibility, please follow these steps:
Within one week of request submission, the FAO will send an email to you and your department confirming your eligibility for FWS and showing your maximum FWS earnings amount. Any earnings beyond this maximum amount must be paid by your department.
Community Service Federal Work-Study
Within one week, you will receive an email from the FAO confirming your eligibility for CS-FWS and showing your maximum earnings amount. You may then proceed with the Haas Center's application process for CS-FWS jobs. The Haas Center will not process your application until your CS-FWS Authorization Request has been received and reviewed by the FAO. If you have questions, please contact the FAO by email at federalworkstudy@lists.stanford.edu or by phone at 650-723-3058. |
