OISTAT Scenofest at the PRAGUE QUADRIENNAL '03
The organizing committee of the PQ Scenofest is proud to announce:

INTERNATIONAL THEATRE LIGHTING DESIGN EXHIBITION
at the Prague Quadriennal June 12-29, 2003

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The Theatre Lighting Design Exhibition will be open to all theatre lighting designers throughout the World. The exhibition will focus on the variety of executed lighting designs of opera, drama, ballet, contemporary dance and all other performing arts worldwide. It aims to evoke the value of the dramatic use of conceptual lighting as an essential design tool for scenographic art.

PQ 2003 is the 10th aniversary of the international scenographic exhibition, held from June 12 - 29 in the festival hall in Prague. Countries send in exhibitions and examples of their national professional scenographic highlights as well as the architecture of theatre venues and student entries of Academies for Scenography, including lighting and sound design.

The Prague Quadriennal was created in 1967 as an attempt to bridge the divide created by the Cold War and to bring theatre artists from around the world together in a spirit of cooperation and exchange. In more recent times, the Quadrennial has served as a meeting point for artists from every continent, artists whose traditions and professional lives might not otherwise bring them into contact. By exhibiting thousands of designs from dozens of countries, and by bringing together designers, directors, and students, as well as the general public, there is an unprecedented exchange of ideas that goes well beyond the narrow confines of theatrical style. With four major categories of exhibits, National, Thematic, Architectural and Student, the PQ has been a major factor in shaping the direction of world theatre, and hence world culture, for the past thirty years.

The International Theatre Lighting Design Exhibition is initiated by the Education Commission (EduComm) of the International Organization of Scenographers Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT).
